Not the most egalitarian response from Tomas, but I loved him for it … This ISN’T a slight on Denmark at all, I loved my time over there. It’s a lovely country and I still keep in frequent contact with several people I met there. TL;DR We like to think of Europe as a bastion of tolerance and progress, and to some extent that’s true, however racism, bigotry et. al are issues there just as they are here in the U.S. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2fn7mg/americans_will_not_accept_films_with_subtitles/

I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore fan either, I’ve only ever watched a handful of the more popular titles such as GitS, Eureka Seven, NGE, Cowboy Bebop, etc. That being said, there is a reason why these popular titles were able to capture non-fans such as myself, and it’s specifically because they are transcendent. Much like Game of Thrones, or Breaking Bad, the level of thought, creativity, and effort put into shows like GitS is what makes it stand out from the million other cookie cutter animes out there. I don’t believe fans are upset because they think the medium is untouchable, not many people would bat an eyelash if some obscure anime/manga were turned into a live action Hollywood blockbuster, just look at Edge of Tomorrow. I think they’re worried that comparable levels of care wouldn’t be applied to the stories that matter, that special effects, explosions, and dollar signs will take precedent over a story that, for all its flash and pomp, is and exploration of the human condition, and so much more. Given the names attached to this project, I think it’s safe to assume that we’re not looking at another V for Vendetta, or The Dark Knight, i.e. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2foefn/wolf_of_wall_street_star_margot_robbie_circling/
(1 child) Real IMAX theaters are the ones that show the 70mm film, which provides a much bigger picture and higher resolution than standard film. “lieMAX” is Digital IMAX, which many theaters now use. The projectors use a digital version of the 70mm film which has been converted into 2k resolution. The main problem is that most theaters still project these converted digital movies onto normal size screens, and also that many non-IMAX projectors already use 2k or even 4k resolutions, but those theaters still charge a premium price despite the drastic difference in quality. Check out the list of IMAX venues at Wikipedia here , and look for the ones that say “15/70mm” next to them. Those are the real IMAX. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2fntt4/forrest_gump_imax_rerelease_bombs_hard_on_friay/
(0 children) Mm I recently wrote a long comment about explaining Evangelion sorta, If you want I can paste it here for you to read, but basically here’s what you need to know: Neon Genesis Evangelion is the series. At the halfway mark or so it started to become more psychological, muddled, and sad. The last two episodes (episodes 25 and 26) focus almost entirely on the mental state of the characters, but end up ignoring everything happening in the physical world. You get some good psychological character development/insight, but all the physical plot falls to the wasteland. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2fotmf/the_japanese_version_of_the_pacific_rim_poster/

(0 children) I did loved Lou Cipher in Angel Heart. And he was played by De Niro so that counts too. And I totally totally Constantive/Hellblazer version played by awesome Peter Stormare. One of few thing they got right in the film – aka resembling the comics. And I am still sad Gaiman/Pratchett Good Omens were never made into film. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2fpfe1/what_movie_in_your_opinion_has_had_the_best/

Marvel has stated that they expect to make more movies after Avengers 3 though, so I have no earthly clue what they intend to do. It could be that after Avengers 3, they regain the rights of all of their characters and launch a series of films on Civil War. (0 children) If you don’t mind, I’d like to give my opinion too. Thanos got the Infinity Gauntlet once in the past and was eventually stopped. http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2fpdi1/with_the_marvel_cinematic_universe_moving_towards/
